Welcome to the Kensington Rochester Hills Campus blogsite! Whether you’re just checking out our campus or you’ve been coming for awhile, we hope this site will help connect you in to our community. We'll be posting all the latest news and information so we encourage you to check back often. We have designed this site with you in mind…our goal is to help you engage in what God is doing at our campus.

As we add content to this site, you'll be given the opportunity to share stories, add photos and connect with others with similar interests and passions. We hope that you visit often, and encourage you to consider becoming an active participant in this weblog by adding your own comments along the way. Pontiac Spring Neighborhood Clean-Up 2008

Close to 70 Kensington folks brought gloves, rakes, brooms and shovels and joined in for our 1st Pontiac Neighborhood Cleanup event! Families, small groups and individuals came to Christ Temple Church to partner with Roland Elam and Friends.

A wonderful breakfast buffet was served by the members of the Church before we ventured out to clean the neighborhood. We combed blocks and blocks for several hours and then reconvened at the church for prayer and fellowship. It was a wonderful time of community for all who attended.

Pontiac Block Party July 19th, 2008

Despite the intermittent rain, nearly 100 volunteers showed up at the Pontiac Block Party on July 19^th to work in various volunteer capacities. They served over 1,000 hot dogs and poured 72 gallons of lemonade and punch! The children had an absolute blast at the various game stations and, if you can believe it, we used 32 lbs of bubbles at our bubble station! Most importantly, based on volunteer feedback, the blessings came from the serving. Each volunteer made a difference that day, using unique talents and gifts to touch others with the love of Christ.

Pontiac Fall Neighborhood Cleanup Sept. 20, 2008

On Saturday, September 20^th, 90 volunteers showed up at the Power Company Kids Club to help with the Fall Community Clean-Up. After spending several hours cleaning up the neighborhood around the Club, volunteers had an opportunity to observe the kids’ program across the street, have lunch together and meet some of the Power Company bus drivers.

We want to thank all volunteers for their servant hearts and partnering with our campus in Pontiac.

Thanksgiving Eve 2008 Dinner and New Community Memories!

Our second annual Thanksgiving Eve Dinner and New Community were a blessing to all who attended! Nearly 500 people enjoyed pasta and salad together in the Adams cafeteria and over 700 people attended service.

People expressed public thanks during the open microphone session for everything from friends, family and health to football!

Bonfire Event a Huge Success October 18, 2008

Nearly 400 people showed up at our bonfire event the evening of October 18. Our property at Bald Mountain and Dutton was transformed into a community of fun, fellowship and prayer!

The kids enjoyed pumpkin painting and hay rides and everyone enjoyed cider and donuts around a roaring bonfire. Dave Wilson and Danny Cox led us in praise music. Greg Gibbs and Becky Lee gave us a quick building update and announced that we will most likely break ground in spring of 2009.

Against all odds and after a day filled with non-stop showers, the sun came out around 5:00 pm. The clouds cleared directly over the property first and it was literally the only place in the area that didn’t have cloud cover! Except for a few sprinkles around 8:00 pm it was a totally rain-free night! Amazingly the property soaked in all that rain from the day and wasn’t even muddy anywhere!

Part of the service was to do a big “reveal” of our sign on the property. After weeks of working through the sign permit and other details, as of 9:00 the morning of the event, it looked like the city of Auburn Hills did not have an inspector available until at least Friday to grant us our final approval. Our prayer team prayed and 2 hours later got the call that the city had granted us email approval. The sign was installed later in the afternoon and we were able to do our “reveal.” Stop by and check it out the next time you drive by the property.

We had forgotten to ask someone to take pictures that evening. But a Troy campus attendee with a professional-looking camera heard about the event and decided to come that night with his camera!

One God story shared at the microphone was by a mom and her daughter. The family lives in Oxford and has been driving by the property for a long time. Each time they drive by the daughter says “this is so beautiful…it’s where I’m going to build my dream house!” Last night when this family was praying at the prayer stations, the daughter looked up at the mom and said “God is answering my prayer…this church building is what God is giving me to be my dream house!”

Our final prayer was to lock arms and face outward, praying for the surrounding neighborhoods and communities…the people who are living far from God that He wants to reach through this building hub and through the future campuses that will gather there. It was an awe-filled moment!
